ILA Reporter - Libraries Unplugged
I’m writing an article for the June 2020 issue of the Illinois Library Association’s ILA Reporter. The topic is unplugged libraries – activities and spaces that don’t require technology. This could include (but is not limited to):
--Mindfulness programs (e.g., yoga or meditation)
--Arts & crafts
--A dedicated quiet space in your library for stress reduction or sensory issues
If a question doesn’t apply to you, please don’t feel obligated to provide an answer. I welcome responses from all who are willing to share, but I am especially interested in hearing from rural and academic libraries, as well as libraries beyond the major Chicago area. Please feel free to share this survey with other libraries that might have similar programs.

Please contact me at kim.tipton19@gmail.com if you have questions. The deadline to submit responses is Feb 1, 2020.

If you would like to share your experiences with "unplugged" programs and spaces, I would greatly appreciate if you could take a few minutes to consider the following questions:

How did you determine a need for your “unplugged” activity?
What considerations went into planning the activity?
How have you made the activity accessible for all patrons?
If you have a dedicated quiet space: 1) How did you determine a need for the space? and 2) What considerations went into the design?
May I contact you if I have follow-up questions? If yes, please provide an email address.
